H. Wade Johnson, Educator, Performer, Music Arranger and Clinician is a native of McClellanville, South Carolina.
He earned his Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Instrumental Music Education and Secondary Counseling at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg South Carolina, and a Masters Degree in Jazz Education, from Vander Cook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. Currently he is the Director of Bands at Benedict College in Columbia South Carolina. Teaching is his calling and music is his passion. Music is a message that brings universal love to one and all. H. Wade has traveled internationally performing with Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker and Pee Wee Ellis, better known as the original “JB’s” (James Brown Band) and with his own bands “USSENSE” and “PRIDE” Ensemble. He has performed with the late “DIZZY” Gillespie (his musical idol and mentor) Wynton and Ellis Marsalis, The Spinners, The Temptations, The Hawkins Family, Dorinda Clark Cole, Marvin Sapp and many other artists. The scripture that has kept him grounded is Colossians 3:23, 24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not men,...” All Praise and Glory belongs to God! |
